For Wilshire Baptist Church
On Monday morning, Wilshire library volunteers spent a few hours packing up the 86 nativities that have lined the tops of the shelves since before Christmas. The nativities belong to Linda Garner, who has collected them from every corner of the globe. Their display is her annual holiday gift to the Wilshire community, and if you’ve never seen them, you should make a point of checking them out next December.

We’ve been in a North Texas deep freeze again, which always seems to catch people off guard. After all, it was shirt sleeve weather on Saturday, and now we’ve been below freezing for almost 80 hours since Sunday night. But anybody who has lived here awhile shouldn’t be surprised.

This week, a young woman named Kelsey who describes herself as a “proud Jewish mama and indie author” asked, “What did people do in elevators before phones? Just stare awkwardly at the ceiling?” My answer to her: “We stared at the door.”
