For a few years at Christmas our church has hosted an interactive Bethlehem experience called “One Starry Night.” One of the small miracles that occurs each time is that after a year of planning and preparation, a full week of setting up, and three hours with hundreds of people in the marketplace, it takes just ninety minutes to put it all away.

“You chosen by the Lord.” The subject line on the email this morning was intriguing, and when I opened it, I got the same message but with additional instructions: “View the attached file pls.”
Third Thursday of Advent

“Someday, when I get to heaven, I’m going to find Jack Kilby and tell him, ‘Thanks for ruining college athletics.’”
A friend said that in the midst of the sensory overload of music, lights and video that has overrun the traditional pageantry of college football. Kilby, the target of his ire, was the engineer at Texas Instruments who created the first integrated circuit. My friend’s complaint was somewhat in jest, but there is much truth to the fact that what Kilby started innocently has gotten way out of hand.
